Every year, hundreds of British Columbians receive a life-saving organ transplant because of an organ donor. In 2023, there were a record 563 transplants in B.C., thanks to the generosity of 160 deceased donors and 77 living kidney donors.
Many B.C. residents believe they’re registered organ donors, but they are not. Only 32% are actually registered, even though 90% of British Columbians say they are in support of organ donation.
Don’t count yourself out.
Register as an organ donor and let the specialists decide if your organs are healthy enough to be donated. One organ donor can save up to eight lives. Anyone with a Personal Health Number can register as an organ donor at registeryourdecision.ca.
Not sure if you are already registered? Double check at checkyourdecision.ca. Please also take the time to talk to your loved ones about your decision.
